Record sales of fertilizers in GrupActel

GrupActel has passed, in this financial year 2007-2008, its record sales of fertilizer reaching the figure of 80,300 tonnes. A figure which represents an increase of 11.40% over the previous campaign in which 72,100 tons were sold and that furthermore, is a figure that includes the sale of all fertilizers (conventional and specialty).

The main factors contributing to this increase in sales have been on the one hand, good grain harvest and prices acceptable to have allowed, from July to December 2007, make a good campaign consumption of fertilizers for sowing to despite the continued increase in costs. On the other hand, has been relevant to the fact the placement of many products that were in stock in parts of southern France, some areas that were not so affected by the drought we experienced last winter in our country. Another issue crucial to achieve this record level of sales has been that since last spring sales were higher than initially expected. Finally, another determining factor has been the continued increase in sales of special fertilizers (colored), which has meant an increase of 46% compared to the 2006-2007 campaign.

Regarding the evolution of prices of fertilizers during this exercise, it must be said that there has been an increased demand for fertilizer worldwide. This increase has been accompanied by a decrease in the production of this product in Europe. This situation of the existence of a demand outstrips supply has caused a price increase in some elements, such as DPA, or 45% super chloride K 60% have seen their price multiplied by three in just a year.
